Letter to Miss Dot at Seven Months

Miss Dot,

You are seven months old!  This post is a bit delayed, but I promise, I did write it at 7 mos!  This last month, you have been a baby on the move.  You finally managed to roll over in your crib and are now a pro at stomach sleeping!

This month you did a lot of things.  We enjoyed a visit with Grammie and Grandpa Keiser, spent a lot of time at the Fall farmer’s market, took you on your first trip to Leesburg to do some shopping, and you got your helmet and got it decorated!

At the Mosaic Farmer's Market!

First trip to the Leesburg outlets!

You have a lot of personality these days, and are generally happy.  Sometimes you will let us know that you are not happy by puffing out your bottom lip and starting to tear up.  It’s kind of adorable and hilarious, though I’m sure you don’t think so.  You really want to try to do things yourself and want to do whatever mama and daddy are doing!  If we are eating something, you want to try it.  If we are holding something, you want to hold it and play with it.  You are very interested in the remote and our phones.  You really love Kala and want to pet and hug her.  She is less willing to let you do that, but mama makes sure you get to have some gentle time petting her.

You and Elvira play while mama and daddy are at work.  You really love spending time with her.  She makes sure that you are fed, changed, and entertained with lots of play and toys.  Mama is always thankful to see how happy you are when she comes home from work.
You got your helmet on this month and have had it on for about three weeks.  Your head has grown a lot and we can already tell that your head is rounding out!  We’re not sure if it’s the helmet or just because you only want to sleep on your stomach, but either way, we are happy it is getting better.  You didn’t like the helmet at first – you were very angry when we would put it on you.  But you don’t seem to mind now, and if anything it has made you emboldened to throw yourself around without fear.  We took you to get your band decorated – Brian from Rock Star Wraps wrapped your helmet professionally for you.  We picked some dinosaurs with a purple background and they look pretty awesome!  Maybe next month we can take you to the Natural History Museum to see some real dinosaur bones.

You are still taking 3 naps a day, and nap for about 4-5 hours a day total.  You are also still sleeping well overnight, from about 7 pm until 6 am!  You aren’t sleeping in your Merlin suit anymore – instead we put you in a sleep sack or just let you sleep in warm pajamas.  You mastered flipping over, so you do that immediately when we put you to bed, and you sleep on your stomach.  You weigh 17 lbs, 11 oz!  You are drinking about 28 oz of formula a day and eat three square meals!  Usually you have oatmeal and apple sauce for breakfast, a veggie or two and a fruit for lunch, and some veggie and maybe a protein for dinner.  You’re still not sure about the meat purees, but they’re a little weird, so I don’t blame you.  You're are wearing 6 – 9 month clothes and some of the 6 month ones are looking a bit snug on you.

Long baby!

 Eating Beets (not a favorite)!

You like to hold your own spoon!

Halloween is next week and you are ready with your costume!  We are having a party with mama’s mom group later today, and you will be part of the neighborhood Halloween parade this weekend.  That should be fun!  Next month we will be having a family photo shoot and getting ready for Thanksgiving in North Carolina with your family!  It will be a very exciting month!

Love,
Mama
